Add a Spinner Wheel Overlay to OBS

Prepare and test your wheel

Create your wheel in the studio first. Review its entries, weights and individual slice colors, then open Share & Embed from the navigation. The OBS & Streamer Overlay panel contains a preview and a browser-source URL.

Use Test Overlay Spin to try the preview. The preview saves a separate wheel in this browser; it does not spin or alter the original studio wheel.

Add the Browser Source in OBS

Use a square source so the wheel fits comfortably. The Share & Embed page suggests 1080 × 1080 pixels; resize the source in your scene to fit the layout.

1. Copy the OBS Link from Share & Embed.
2. In OBS, add a Browser Source to your scene.
3. Paste the full URL, including the part after #.
4. Set width and height to 1080, then position the source.
5. Open the source’s Interact window and click the wheel to spin.

Choose transparency, sound and winner timing

Alpha uses a transparent page background. Chroma Key uses solid green if you prefer to remove the background with a filter. Auto-Clear Overlay hides the winner banner after six seconds; turn it off to keep the banner until another action.

Overlay sound requires both an unmuted source wheel and Sound in overlay enabled. Browsers may also need a click inside the source before audio plays. Unmute the studio wheel before generating the link if you want audio.

Know what the overlay link carries

The link includes the title, choices, enabled states, weights, individual colors, mode, named theme and mute setting. Current links preserve portable presentation settings, including duration and custom colors. They do not carry history or round progress. Uploaded images/audio require a backup file and cannot be carried in the overlay URL.

Changing the studio list does not update an existing OBS source. Generate and paste a new link after editing your choices. An oversized wheel needs a smaller list to fit into an overlay URL.

Find your results and troubleshoot a source

OBS uses its own browser storage. The studio browser’s results and the OBS overlay’s results are separate. Reloading the same overlay link can reopen its local copy; clearing OBS browser data removes that copy.

If a source stops responding after a long pause, reload it once its previous editing lease has expired. Only run one active instance of the same overlay link in a browser profile. For a simpler presentation without a separate source, use Present in the studio.
