About this random name picker

Use a name wheel to choose a student, volunteer, meeting participant or presentation order: paste the names, spin, and the wheel announces the winner. The sample names are only a starting point — replace them with your own.

For repeated draws where everyone should get a turn, switch to Fair Round. Each name is held out once it has been drawn, so nobody is picked twice before the others have had their turn.

Every result is recorded in the results list on this device, and you can export the whole history as a CSV when you need a record of who was picked and when.

How to use this wheel

  1. Review the 8 starter choices below. Rename, disable or replace any that do not fit.
  2. Keep Random mode to allow repeat winners, or choose No Repeats in Wheel Settings.
  3. Click the wheel to spin. The result saves locally before it appears.
  4. Export results as CSV, or share a link to send someone their own copy.

Customize your odds

Each starter entry has weight 1. Turn on Weights & colors to adjust its chance. An entry’s probability is its weight divided by the total weight of the eligible choices. Learn how weighted odds work.

Changing a color or spin speed does not change the winner. Read the selection rules.

Questions about the random name picker

How many names can I add?

Up to five thousand on a single wheel. Labels stop being readable well before that, but the winner is always announced in text.

Can two people have the same name?

Yes. Duplicate labels are treated as separate entries, each with its own chance, so two people called Sam are two independent choices.

How do I pick several names without repeats?

Choose No Repeats or Fair Round, start a round, and spin once per person. Each selected entry sits out until you start a new round; it is not deleted.

Can I share the wheel with someone else?

Yes. Use Share a link to this wheel: the names travel inside the link itself, so the person you send it to gets their own copy without anything being uploaded.
